I've seen that done in very high-end ($$$) custom homes...creates a very
interesting challenge for lots of devices...cell phones, wireless
devices, any kind of radio. One client ended up putting external
antennas in the attic crawlspace, connected to the computer with an
antenna cable dropped through the wall. Throughput with that arrangement
was awesome!

If you don't see other WAPs in your area (assuming you don't live in a
rural area) when you scan for connection points, then try taking your
wireless consuming device to a window, or outdoors.

If you suddenly discover quite a few WAPs that you didn't see inside
your house, suspect wire screen lathe in the plaster walls.

Of course, that wouldn't explain how it worked before you rearranged
device locations...

Good point Joe, plaster reinforced with screen would certainly prevent WIFI
signals.

Wire lath?

Ken - if you continue to have problems getting connectivity restored it
might be helpful to share the configuration of the system. (Are the
wireless routers all connected to each other via cable or are some of the
units acting as repeaters.) Another issue is whether each unit runs it's
own DHCP server. Finally - is each access point on a different
non-interfering channel?
