Hopefully without getting involved in the rest of this ugly discussion, 
I can definitely say that the US military was segregated during WW II, 
so there would NOT have been "some blacks" in each unit.  The Army was 
only desegregated in 1948.  I was in Europe at the time, and so did not 
see integrated units until I returned to the US in 1951.
