The last time I looked, they weren't any cheaper than regular laptops, so I
didn't think there really was a point to get one.

Chrome OS introduces Aura window manager

http://www.geek.com/articles/news/chrome-os-introduces-aura-window-manager-20120410/

So, a Chromebook running Chrome OS has a browser, a Gmail client, a
photo client, Google Docs, a music player... and it's all backed up to
the cloud.

I haven't poked at one of these, but if it follows the trends of the
past couple of years, it will be running a modified Linux kernel and
have a JVM runtime engine to run local apps. I don't know if there's
an SDK available, either: would this run Android apps or something
else?

Is this a competitor to Windows, OSX or Linux?

Would these work for some of your clients as inexpensive, reliable workstations?

What's (evil|good) Google up to with these things?
