Hi Mike, I had the same problem and was about to remove chrome from my sons' notebooks when I discovered that if you disable the built in flash unit and download the external plugin... it works
Enter about:plugins on the address bar and disable the internal that has local\google\chrome in it's path then if it isn't installed as part of firefox or ie downlad and install the standalone... That Snap happens to me weekly. The G+ google geeks say it is all from Flash and we all know why Jobs said no Flash in my house. What do I see coming down the pike? Well the G+ community is heavy bent on getting apps for android and I see them extending it to this device as well. Much like M$ is going to do in Win8.
