It's frustrating as hell for me.  The client doesn't understand that there is
nothing I can do programming wise to cause corruption problems.

The battery in his UPS which protects the NAS, router and switches died a few
months ago and he still hasn't replaced it.   That alone could be causing the
corruption issues.  I've tried over and over to get him to replace it or just
pick up a cheap one at Staples, with no success.  How do I convince someone to
believe me that it's important?   I feel like I'm screaming in the wilderness.

Yup
Win 7 Pro 64bit

There are 2 32bit Win 7 Pro's....and a few Win 2k systems, too.

Are they running Windows 7 64-bit, though?

...on a related note...

I'm using FPDOS 2.5 and VFP 9 on a mix of WINXP and WIN 7 PRO
systems...45 systems total. No problem with index corruption.

The server is running CentOS (Samba) and it is easy to see who has which
DBF files open with Webmin (although you can't see who is using which
record.)

I would suspect you have network hardware issues...either a bad NIC or
cable problems....that is causing your index corruption, not a mix of
VFP and FPWIN (assuming the data engine for FPW and FPDOS are the same.)

We have been using a ReadyNAS for our main database server.   It has worked
flawlessly for several years now.

Lately we've been getting corruption errors which I'm pretty sure is due to a
mix of VFP on 64-bit Win 7 and FPW 2.5.     We are almost ready to go
completely VFP on[excessive quoting removed by server]
