You pre-date me, Hal <s>. I think of the 360 as the beginning, but
accept your correction - there was a time before EBCDIC. Truth be told,
I did originally learn Symbolic Programming (SPS) for the 1401 (with
word marks, as I recall), but never actually did anything with it. The
360 came out around that time.
