That was my understanding, too. IBM never made laptops....Lenovo did and put "IBM" on them. IBM decided to get out of the laptop biz, Lenovo just replaced the logo. I've purchased both...IBMs and Lenovo devices and the quality hasn't changed any from what I can tell. Just bought one of the 17" screen units back in February...working like a big dog.
