Had to change this to OT ...

I'll just say they aren't interested in greeting out-of-towners with
southern hospitality.

Last time I went there, I stopped on arrival to visit a woman (Mary
Martin, not of Peter Pan fame <s>) who I had known from previous winters
there. She lived alone with her dog in an old barely-running camper,
spending nights in Wal Mart parking lots and wherever people would let
her stay; basically a homeless person. What kept her going for years was
her total belief that God would provide for her. I admired her courage,
and she was a fun person, so I checked up on her, gave her some food and
did little things for her when I was in town. No relationship, though,
because she was too over-the-top for me and I had a long-distance
relationship going with my artist-lady friend.

Anyway, I arrive around dusk, and we're standing talking in front of her
camper; not drinking or carrying on or doing anything but talking, and
the next thing we know we're surrounded by Myrtle Beach police with guns
drawn. I'll spare the rest of the story, but it didn't exactly endear me
to the Myrtle Beach police dept.
