Judith,
You simply need to expose data via a set interface. Where it comes from and
what provides the content doesn't matter.
What may well matter however is which webserver software you are running M$
or Linux (Apache etc.) and how you are going to feed the webservice as well
as where from e.g VFP using XML via PHP or MySQL via PHP etc. etc etc.
Maybe you can provide a little more info and I'm sure others will respond.
Rather than giving them keys to the kingdom (i.e., access to your data
directly), why not publish the data (into XML or whatever format) onto a
web database that they can hit with their queries? I know you said "no
SQL Server or MySQL" but to me, it sounds a lot easier to do that?
