Lew: 169.xxx is probably a function of the MAC address of the card. If you are loosing a DHCP address generated by the router try the following: - put a static IP address in the computer for your network and see what happens; your lease may be too short and is dropping the IP address generated by DHCP - if the static IP address works you may need to update firmware in the router and/or the wireless card/Ethernet card - check the box for a virus; over the years I have found that all appears to be correct and there is still an issue it usually points to a virus or other anomaly Jack
