The Ford Escort has a lot of history, and I would expect the 1999 model

get around. LOL

Actually, it is a Mazda 3, re-badged as a Ford.

I had a red 1960 Ford Falcon back in my high school days, and it always
got the job done. It was a six cylinder, 144 cubic inches, 90
horsepower, 30 mpg car.

I bought a '65 Fairlane off of a guy in Detroit for $30, bondo and painted it with some leftover 72 Vega Electric Blue and decked it out with a low mileage drive train from a wrecked Maverick. No sooner done some drunk dented the right fender right on the nose.

I fitted a new light to the fender but never finished the bondo when it broke in half at the firewall due to road salt rot. I jacked it up at the rocker panels until it looked OK, mixed up a whole gallon of bondo on a big cardboard and slapped the bondo into the torque box at the side of the firewall, repeating this on both sides - holding it in place with the cardboard until it kicked. Added a couple of long bolts from the top of the cabin floor to the bottom of the transmission crossmember and snugged them up. Then I put it in the lot with $500 on it. Some old boy snapped it up. I told him I had been driving it but I couldn't guarantee it. Saw him driving past the shop for a year until I moved to Florida.

15 years later I saw that same car in a used lot in Austin, looking the same as when I had sold it. Unmistakable with that same color and the patch of unfinished bondo,
