The learning curve can be very steep though.

Ended up erasing everything and starting over..
Seems the trick is to install EVERYTHING (all options) when you load fedora.
In the process of trying to get apache, etc. running again.
Tried downloading directly from apache.org
Finally gave up in disgust and decided to do the xampp.org thing again to
see what the difference is...!!!
