If you really, really, really believe that what you are doing is right,
what is the harm in letting the opposite side have its say.

Look at Madigan. He is bombarded with contrary opinions on a regular
basis, yet he stands firm; refusing to yield to any opinion other than
his own.

Of course such a response could simply be the result of stupidity rather
than commitment. But I digress.

Could it be, perhaps, that our military establishment does not really,
really, really believe in what it has been tasked to do? Does the
civilian leadership of our military establishment have something to
hide? Is there a miniscule chance that what the other side is saying
has any truth to it at all?

We cannot expect everyone to be a Madigan.

We undoubtedly have many people in the military who are ready to give
their lives for their country (us) but not so prepared to die for
someone's personal agenda or for fanaticism. For sure these people do
not really, really, really believe in what they are doing. These are
the people who MUST be spared the luxury of hearing from the other side.
