1.      Ensure Server 2008 is at the correct Service Pack level. For
Windows Server 2008, this is Service Pack 2. For Windows Server 2008 R2,
this is Service Pack 1 (at the time of writing).
2.      Ensure that Windows 7 clients are on the correct Service Pack
level. This is Service Pack 1 (at the time of writing).
3.      Ensure SMB2 is *enabled* on Windows Server 2008. It will be
enabled by default, unless it has been expressly disabled at some point.
4.      Install hotfix Windows6.0-KB2635024-x86 on the Windows 2008
Server to address a file corruption bug in SMB2. 
5.      On each Windows 7 workstation, updated network drivers to most
current version where needed. OEM-installed drivers from 2009 are not
going to cut it!
6.      On each Windows 7 workstation, configured network card to
disable interrupt moderation if possible, and force to either 100Mbps
or1Gbps Full Duplex (depending on network speed).
7.      On each Windows 7 workstation, install hotfix
Windows6.1-KB2618096-x86 to address another file corruption issue in
SMB2.
