Back with 17" monitors autohiding was a great help, with a large
screen it's just one more thing to chase, so I don't do it any
more. Never seen the problem you're describing, though. Sounds
like it could be palm dragging over the touchpad. (I hate laptops!)
Ha! You are a mere amateur at hating laptop non-ergonomics.
I have set off clicks on my laptop's touchpad without touching
the touchpad. My finger has been about 1/16" above it, and yet a
click has registered. It does not happen often, but I have
reproduced at least once when trying to do so. (My hands are very
dry, and that might have something to do with it.)
