I just bought a new epson all in one including fax, wifi/ ethenet and its
great. It can scan direct to any set up pc and in duplex. Well pleased. I am
sure it would do Mac as well. All for about 99 quid (uk)

A lot of scanners come with applications that run on the Mac, eg. Canon
does. You might want to check on the download page for your scanner. Unlike
the built-in software, these apps often have automatic functions where you
push a button on the scanner and a file gets stored on the Mac.
