Alan,

I have seen slow response times accessing files in the UNC \\server\share.
I see better response when the data is deeper, such as
\\server\share\program. 
Most of my customers have less problems with speed and data access when they
use a mapped drive.

>From my observations, mapped drives to \\server\share where the x:\program
is faster access.
It doesn't matter what drive letter is used for my program. The "Start in"
property of the Icon Properties determines where the program files reside.
