Why bother with the MS junk. MySQL could probably be opted for just as
easily. And then you wouldn't have to worry about MS changes in licensing,
the usual MS security holes, etc.

We already use 2 non-MS SQL engines: Postgres & Advantage DB Server.

The problem is market image.  People don't want something they've
never heard of (yeah, stupid I know).  Last time I looked at MySQL it
was a little lacking in features.

Having said that, MS SQL certainly not junk, probably one of Microsoft's best.
