You are absolutely correct. It is your responsibility to work things out with YOUR customer, and deal with other issues later.

However, lots of luck in applying that rule in the other direction. It still SHOULD apply, but different companies have different policies in how far they will go to keep a customer happy. And if you buy a watch cheap from a guy on a street corner, keep your expectations modest.

FWIW, my wife had an Amazon order that never arrived (from a 3rd party), and Amazon made it good.
