I think Mike's graphical style would be your best bet. About the only other way would be to create a shape object with the BackColor you want and place it over the checkbox portion and control it's ZOrder in regards to the checkbox. You'd then also need a second shape with the checked value. This gets messy in a hurry, but could be rolled into a class. The graphical option seems much easier, maybe with a separate label for the text.
