You really can't do better than Rackspace Cloud Files for storage security and 
flexibility. Having said that, I really haven't seen a great desktop tool for 
running regular backups to Cloud Files. There's Jungle Disk (which Rackspace 
bought), but when I tried it out a couple of years ago, I wasn't terribly 
impressed with the Mac client (I hear the Windows client is better).

I use Box and DropBox for limited file/photo sharing, but I wouldn't consider 
either terribly secure.
