Take what I say with a *huge* grain of salt, as I've done limited Oracle
work. but...

So, a few basic questions:
1. Is ODBC essentially a 3rd party product that can connect to any Oracle DB?
I believe ODBC is a Microsoft standard, that different vendors write
drivers for. An Oracle ODBC wouldn't come from Famous, (althought they
could write one tailored to their product), but from Oracle.
*IF* the data is in a true Oracle database, and not some database
wrapped in a proprietary Famous format, then I'm pretty sure you can
simply download and install the free Oracle Client, which installs an
ODBC driver. You should then be able to create a DSN through Foxpro
2. Is it possible to 'change the database format slightly to make it
proprietary'?
I don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised.
3. Does Oracle have the ability to disable ODBC access?
I don't know, but I would be surprised.
Unfortunately I do not have access to the customers database and Famous does
not have a Demo version.
Yeah, good luck with testing ideas then.... :-)
