I started on the hardware side as my introduction to computers. Well not
really computers. First there were several "O/S", not just a single one for
all airlines. There were no PC's when I started. It was all ALC controllers
and early 3270. It was held together by 300 baud modems going round the
world. It was not till later that SITA brought in network PC's. In fact it
was companies like SITA that kept airlines in the dark ages because the PC's
did the same thing, just with expensive SITA gear. I quit the game in the
90's so I don't know where it's gone from there but I expect shares still
exists. That I remember from BCal days.
