I think applications should be installed once, and then kept up to date over time semi-automatically by the app, whenever possible. I actually violate that for a couple of my apps, but in one case it was a requirement of my customer that wanted their user to have to explicitly agree to the license terms with every version. Easiest way to implement that was through the installer.

So anyway, build the .exe and push it up to a server somewhere. Configure the app to check for a later version and if it's there, download it and copy it on top of the existing .exe, and restart. It's one of the best things I ever did - hassle-free for the user as well as the administrator and developer.
