Ours happens to tied to tax calculations. Part of the tax system. Lots of other exist I know of as stand alone packages.

I know this sounds like overkill (and I don't need the maps), but when I passed some random Trillium cleaned up addresses to Google Maps, I ended up with higher quality address data based on double checking the addresses against the company's own websites.
