I have 2 identical external drives which I rotate between my office and the shed at the bottom of my garden at weekly intervals. I have a batch file using Robocopy which copies the contents of my data drive to them. In fact, as there is enough room on the drives I have 3 folders, D-2, D-1 and D_Backup. The batch file mirrors D-1 to D-2, D_Backup to D-1 and then my data drive (D:) to D_Backup so I have a form of Father. Grandfather and Son. The batch file then writes the date and time to a log file in D_Backup. Finally it shuts the machine down so the last thing I do when I am finished for the day is run the batch file and walk away.
