Hello there folks,
I really hope folks don't mind me posting this here! Especially since this is
not a completely Technically related posting. It may be a stretch though -
since it IS Based upon issues with my 3D Printing Business - which is a Tech.
business. Some folks on here in the recent past have asked me about how m 3D
Printing business has been going - so, this posting is also an answer to them.
So - As many of you already know - I have a Mojo 3D Printer - a true
professional level 3D Printer. Many also know I am the guy with the Big Dragon
Sculpture - originally printed on a MakerBot CupCake which is the printer that
really caused desktop 3D Printers to burst forth on the public scene). Well, I
have been struggling to run a start-up business around the Mojo printer AND my
3D Design skills. However, its been VERY Difficult. Although I have gotten a
number of new clients in the past 6 months - its NOT been enough to sustain me
financially.
Recently I have decided I am going to have STOP doing this business on a
full-time basis. I probably won't even bother anymore to do it on a part time
basis either. Sure - if I get an occasional print job request via MakeXYZ or
3DHubs - I may still do them. But, I will no longer push to find new clients -
via advertising my services on places like Craigslist.
As such, I am now struggling to find a Full Time job so that I can survive.
But, its taking much longer than I had hoped to find a job - and, the longer
its taking me to find a full-time job - the further into debt I have gotten.
Its gotten so bad that I could not pay the rent this month, and the payment for
the Mojo is due right now. Needless to say - you all know that its nearly
impossible to find a job doing VFP - which so far is still my primary
programming skill. I also have an extensive background in 3D CG and 3D Printing
- but, its tough to find work in that as well!
However, this is not the worse part. I went up to New Hampshire for the 4th of
July - to spend time with extended family - and with my Son. Which was fine -
since I didn't have to pay for any lodging or food. But - on the way back -
only 3 hours into a 6 hour trip - my Car Broke Down. As such, I have been
basically Stranded here in a town called Auburn, Massachusetts. The Costs for
the repairs for the car, and for the hotel stay for 3 nights have gotten costly
- and thus I am reaching out to my friends in the ProFox community for Help!

The Auto Transmission shop called me a little while ago. They did a Third test
drive - driving my car around - and the initial problem - with the car slipping
out of gear (its a Manual Stick Shift) - like its going into Neutral - did NOT
happen with them.
Its driving me crazy - literally - since, now I have to take the chance and
Drive home with the Car - for over 3 hours drive - and HOPE that the problem
does NOT Occur again - otherwise I will be In Trouble AGAIN!
So - I have my fingers crossed - and will report back here - my outcome.
Hopefully I can write my next update from Home!
