I get calls and requests and job descriptions all the time, which I ignore 
unless I'm looking. Then depending on my desperation level I can pick who I 
call and let the recruiters do most of the work. 

But it requires a filled out LinkedIn profile including recommendations, 
skills, etc. Takes years. I haven't put much time at all into mine, just a few 
minutes a month for maybe 5 years now. 

My profile isn't very good at all yet my last 3 jobs at least have found me 
that way. 

I really like the part about the jobs finding me.
