With one of my systems, I give the user 3 choices 1 Start the system maximised 2 or start the system in what I call a window 3 or start the system in the same window as last time you exited the system (This could be on a 2nd screen for example)
I have noticed a lot of users take choice 1 and with larger screens, there is a lot of white empty space on the desktop.
