I tried ALL the solutions mentioned in that article.
However, NOTHING WORKED
For some reason MS did something to screw the Skype users, with the ulterior intention to force people out of XP or W7 and shift to W8.

Is that the case, I wonder?

I solved the problem temporarily by installing an older version of Skype into an Oracle Virtual Machine with XP Professional. It is a real PITA to have to start the VM, which consumes memory, just to communicate with my foreign clients.

I wonder if there is an FREE alternative to Skype out there
