I loved it when MS paid big bucks for NFL coaches to use WinPads on the sidelines, but forgot to bribe, er, provide promotional materials, to the announcers, who kept calling them "iPad-like devices." That said, I'd suggest your sample of "nobody likes" might not include everyone. A relative who'll remain nameless (due to the shame) works at a Microsoft Store and they are actually doing bang-up business. I mean, not enough to topple Android from #1, or Apple from #2, but they're beating out Blackberry, I hear!
