A former co-worker threatened to trademark the subject phrase and charge us
all a nickel every time we were working on our machines and said it out
loud. He would have retired a bazillionaire by now.

Today's Windows Mystery involves all of the development shortcuts on our
desktop breaking.

All were pointed to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual FoxPro\..."
that continued on and pointed to a specific config file we use to start the
app, and a start directory.

All the shortcuts changed to "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Foxpro\..."
without the "(X86)" in the path name. The files are installed and working
on the x86 path.

My co-worker insists "I didn't do anything" which I believe, unlike when
our clients say it. A morning of VFP programming, surfing, and some RDP for
client support. No downloads, no installs, no updates.

Everything else seems to be running fine.

Q1: Can anyone explain why the desktop decided to re-write the shortcuts to
the wrong path?

Q2: Can we keep it from happening again?

P.S. I don't expect a lot of replies at this date and hour. Wishing a happy
New Year to you and yours: good health, prosperity and security. Be careful
out there!
