They even dropped VB. Holy shit Batman!

OMG, maybe next they'll drop the oddball pathing notation, and use slashes like
the rest of the computing world!

I thought it was cute interacting with a 2012 server just now that:

1) it told me it was going to automatically restart to install updates in 14 minutes. WTF? I had to disable windows update, stop the service, and manually add a registry entry to keep the server from restarting in the middle of the day. WTF?

2) powershell requires a leading period before executing a file in that directory. While I agree with this and am used to it from *nix, does this really belong as an application feature?

3) trying to use IE to browse a non-MS site resulted in a string of modal windows informing me scripts are usually safe and asking me if I want to enable them for this page. Answering yes or no doesn't matter, you'll just get asked again.

Maybe they've fixed these things by now, this server OS is 3 years old after all.

But be wary of Microsoft making significant changes. I like in that article that it mentions they've rewritten asp.net from the ground up. In my experience that means it won't be usable again for a few years.
