There are some issues, such as nuclear disarmament, that cannot be handled any other way. Look at what's happening with the other approach, where some countries say they can have them and others can't. The status quo is that the countries without, threatened by those with, have accelerated their weapons programs. Anyone call that progress? In all cases, government is a necessary fact of life. We form governments at specific levels to perform specific functions at that level. That they take lives of their own with 'mission creep' is our failing, but we can't throw the baby out with the bathwater; we just need to be more vigilant. Had the mission really been to help the people of the region, the approach would have been completely different.
