Windows server or SAMBA server? Which version?  How are you sharing?
Via mapped drives or UNCs? Any recent changes to the networks, besides
the thousand Zero-Day patches MS has sent out? Anything in the logs on
the server?

I'd guess all other kinds of files can be read/written or you might
have mentioned that.

Can you use Notepad to create a new file in the directories?

Can you use FoxPro to do it? (MODI FILE P:\JustTesting)

And, okay, I just have to ask:

Have you tried turning it off and back on again?
