Found the scrolling solution today. The ASUS Gestures program re-appeared after a couple of days away, and there's s checkbox under the Scroll topic that offers "Content moves reversely with your finger's direction."
It is funny what a difficult concept it is to express. You're either moving the document relative to the window or the window relative to the document, but that requires a level of abstraction most people (real people, not us geeks) do not have in their computer interactions.
