"This update addresses a problem in Windows." Yep, and most users don't care beyond that. What it actually fixed in detail is easily found on the web via the KB number. When I do an apt-get update on Ubuntu, I don't have a bloody clue what any of the dozens of updates do either, without going and chasing them up.
