Hey Tristan,

Are you tied to Ubuntu? Ubuntu only includes parts that are free (as in
cost and in open source). This may be the reason that some of these
utilities aren't available.

I'm a MEPIS user myself and I just checked the boot CD and it includes
wireless networking as well as bluetooth services. I haven't had a
chance to try them out from the live cd though.

MEPIS 6.0 is built on top of Ubuntu so it takes advantage of all of that
great development and effort, but has a couple of UI tweaks that the
developers of MEPIS liked. One of which is the KDE UI instead of GNOME.

MEPIS also includes some things that aren't free as in open source, but
are free as in beer: Flash player, Real Audio, and a couple of other
things. I appreciate them being there as I would probably have
installed them anyway.

On MEPIS, from the "start" button, choose "System Configuration
(Settings)" then "System Administration" then "MEPIS Utilites" then
"Network Interfaces". Wifi and WLAN0 are the two areas you want to adjust.

HTH.
