FWIW, AOL started out as a Mac-only service way back in the late
'80s. This was when the only other online services were character-
based, such as CompuServe, GEnie and Prodigy. It had a small cult
following, and yours truly was a charter member.
Needless to say, the monster into which it morphed later on was
nothing like the original service.
