Big-J Journalists have an explicit code of ethics that claims impartiality, and disclosure of any relationship that could be _perceived_ as a conflict of interest. Most bloggers are keeping journals (small-j) of their personal writings and are under no such expectations. The better ones should voluntarily disclose such conflicts. PayPerPost [1] is a much more explicit arrangement where writers write ad copy for products and fail to disclose they are explicitly paid for such subterfuge. I doubt any of us would endorse such a plan.
