Fortunately, we don't have any toll roads in Tennessee. We also are one of
only three states that doesn't have an income tax, but the mongrel tax
loving politicians are constantly trying to push it through. They can't seem
to say the words "cut spending".

I agree.  Toll roads are just another tax.  I have always wondered how
much of my $0.80 was going towards paying for the guy/gal to take my
money?  Here in the DC area we have a toll road which they keep raising
the prices and they say the money for the Metro to come out to the
airport.  So, these people are now stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic and
paying almost $5 for the toll to pay for a subway they will not likely
use.
