The TechNet plus subscription allows you to download numerous operating systems and applications for use on up to 10 PC's at a UK Price of 199.00 GPB I took the opportunity to install Vista Ultimate on the Media PC I use with my TV's. The install failed on every attempt with "file not found error code 0x80070017" . I removed all unnecessary cards and peripherals without success. Eventually I tried imaging to DVD using a DVD+R instead of DVD-R and it worked. Other suggestions found included recording at the lowest speed your recorder works but I managed to image a successful DVD at 4 speed. On a slightly different note I am also trying Office 2007 Ultimate on my main machine. It looks very pretty and the Icon groupings certainly help. A little confusing, (I couldn't find the Save As option but found it by clicking on the Icon in the top right which gave me the usual File Options). When I first installed it took my machine (Pentium 4 3.2 Gig with XP 64 bit) down to a crawl, but after 2 days it now seems to have adjusted itself back to normal. Outlook 2007 with Exchange seems to be even faster. I note the comments about using Windows apps but I make a good deal of money out of clients using Microsoft and therefore need to use the same apps and OS's as they use. I have a Linux machine but don't get on with it very well mainly do to not ever being quite sure what to do. I haven't got the time to learn and so far haven't come across any Clients or prospective Clients who either all ready have it or intend using it. When this changes, if I haven't retired I will take the necessary time. I am however looking seriously at Daboo as I have a couple of Clients who have a few Mac's for graphics work. Incidentally one of my Clients changed a few hundred Macs to PC's recently and there may be some available still at a reasonable price.
