Virgil, there's an old expression that says "you are what you eat" that
comes to mind. While I can't say exactly how true that expression is in
the world of food, I will say, with confidence based on a lifetime's
observations, that it's very true in the world of information.

It's tempting to get specific and talk, say, about Fox News, but then we
might stray into the Netherworld of "my news is better then your news"
and accomplish nothing except stir up another dust storm.

I've asked you to consider whether the actions taken by our gov't are
consistent with what you'd expect of people who truly and sincerely care
about this country and the world around us, as a starting point. And
then, if you do suspect that the answer to this question might be "no",
that their actions are indeed different, that they are obsessed with the
ME at our and the rest of the world's expense, then you may very well be
interested in doing some digging to discover why this is true. I suggest
you start with searching on keywords like Leo Strauss, PNAC, Neocons -
and ask yourself how you stand with what you're seeing. If you doubt
something, double check it.

It seems very much that our greatest problem of the moment is that we
keep going back into an endless loop recycling basic disagreements,
while the people we should have stopped by now are moving ahead with
their agenda. We can't allow ourselves to stay in this rut any longer.

Think about the big picture. Look at a globe of the world and ask
yourself how that relatively small place we call the ME could possibly
be such a Mt Everest of importance in our grand scheme of things. Think
about the American Constitution and the spirit and values the framers of
it worked so hard to establish, and ask yourself if the people pulling
our strings in Washington and the media are even in the same ballpark.
Think about the real heroes in our past and ask yourself if any of them
would lead us the way we're being led today. Think about the fact that
this is a majority Christian country, yet here we are going down a road
that Christ himself would never have taken.

We've been duped, Virgil, by people who care more about money, power and
Israel then what's good for America and the rest of the world. We've
spent too much blood, too many years and too many dollars going down the
wrong road, and now headed to get worse - and here we are, STILL
disagreeing on basics. It's no wonder the agenda we should be united
against persists!

I'm going to try to switch gears from this endless loop to the basics of
a long term solution:

1. The influence of Big Money doesn't belong in our political system,
period. We all believe in gov't of/by/for the people, and the time is
here to act of this belief.

2. We must protect, feed, water and shape the Internet into a tool that
replaces the media barons who have been so influential in leading us
down the wrong road.

That is, for the long term, there are 2 major matters of consequence:
our information supply and our election process. If we can fix these
things in time we'll have an entirely different future then what lies
ahead if we don't.

The short term solution is much harder, because the players are in
place, the forces are in motion, and the direction is set. It took the
protagonists years to put this package together and get it launched. The
days when we could have nipped it in the bud are gone now. What do we
do, then? Protest, as clearly and loudly as we can, all of us. Our
freedom of speech is about the only means at our disposal now. And when
someone tries to lure us back into the endless loop of arguing the
basics, ignore him.
