The room was full of gas and we lit the match. While we can blame the
gas or the match, one thing we can't do is just walk away as if we had
no part it in. The fact is that our hands are covered with blood now,
and we have no choice but to make some big decisions. We can continue
the go-for-broke gambit the neocons launched, or we can get them out of
power and work with other countries to put together a firefighting force
that has the strength and the capacity to put that fire out.

We do have the means to make the fire bigger, but if we do that then
we'll all get burned. The only rational course of action is to put it
out.

Among the major "un-accomplishments" of our information supply is to
have convinced us that world support is unimportant; the UN is
irrelevant; Muslim/Arabs are bad people, and because we have the biggest
guns we can do whatever we please. Wrong, wrong, wrong and wrong.

One thing that's really at stake here is the spirit of America. In our
lifetimes I believe we've seen this country fall, a step at a time, from
a world class standard into something that I don't even recognize
anymore. I look around and I can't even spit without hitting yet another
authority bent on forcing me into it's mold. Is this what freedom and
democracy are all about, or is it tyranny in another clever disguise?
