        Consistency. This is just one instance of the sort of task that  
comes up a lot: having to remove bad characters from a string. The  
next time you have this sort of problem, you may be removing all non- 
digits or all non-alphas or all punctuation or ... By creating a  
solution that uses CHRTRAN(), you can create a text cleaning function  
that can work in just about every situation.
