She lives in Sierra Madre, CA (Pasadena). I live in Pittsford, NY (Rochester). I was in a rental car, and never received any citation IDing me. They have no recourse realistic as I only go to SoCal once every 6 months, and usually do not stay overnight in my daughter's place. I figured I could "get away with it" re: the local PD taking their vengeance out on me under the cloak. Lynda (wife) was very concerned I would be arrested for some petty issue and hauled off to the pokey house forever. Okay, here is a block on my shoulder. Let's play. I can far better afford Legal Counsel than they can afford to harass me and get bad press for it (very small city, 1 full time PD officer, one part time, one clerk). It was important for me to make a point, so I played it out. Had the manual demand draft angle not worked out I planned to hire a courier to go to the PD, where they accept payments in person, and drop off 3,501 pennies, unrolled, and wait for a receipt. A recount would have been necessary, of course, unless they missed the count by one penny. Luckily it never got that far, but that would have been funny as hell. I was really torqued. Can you tell? Normally I am beyond reasonable when it comes to being a law abiding citizen. I resent, however, any person or institution playing "We got you now, you little bastard!" with me or other regular folks. So, I took my best shot at being at least equally reasonable as Sierra Madre with their little parking technicality. It was apparent they wanted their $35 out of me. Fine, take it, but pay your bank what it costs to get it. Not my problem if it costs y'all $50 or more to get it! heh-heh...
