They are putting all that money aside to support our troops! Why, just look at this glowing article on today's MSNBC about how great the care is for these guys who put their lives on the line for The Cause and will never be whole again: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17160574/ We Vietnam vets know all too well what "support the troops" really means, these guys (and now gals) are just the latest to find out. And just in case it's still not crystal clear, that bullsh!t "support the troops" line really means "support the cause", and, "if you just happen to get blown up, well, tough nuggies, but you can depend we'll be crying - all the way to our bank". One of my friends lost an eye in combat. He had 6 months to go. They said "we'll let you out now if you agree to [some tiny percentage] disability". He refused. I got out around that time, and I don't know what became of him, but I do remember how he looked when he came out of that meeting. That's just one story of so many. On a current note, recently I went to the VA Hospital in Northport NY, to see if I could help re-train a disabled vet to become a programmer. What did I learn? That there is no retraining program, that all they have is a psychiatric dept to deal with drug use and alcoholism. I didn't look to see if my friend who lost his eye was among them, but I did wonder.
