www.logmein.com No router/firewall port forwarding, no VPN setup, signal is encrypted, easy to set up and use, free version has no time restrictions.
I have over 30 PCs running logmein.com throughout the US, in addition to all the machines I use VPN/pcAnywhere with. Although I prefer the VPN/pcAnywhere solution for some file transfer features, using logmein.com has been a life saver. Be certain to select their totally free version, no their free trial version, unless you do want to pay a monthly fee for some premium features (file transfer, remote printing).
