Yeah, I just wish I knew more about what I was doing. The advice I've been getting has been mostly good but obviously I needed more. It would have been nice if the bank had given me better reporting on disbursements, too. It seems that everyone "assumed" I knew what I was doing because I was handling things and didn't provide the data I needed when it would have done me some good. I will also be calling around looking for alternate funding in case our mortgage bank says 'no'. Our real issue right now is to pay for the overruns. There are no guarantees with a custom house project, and fewer guarantees when you build near a hillside on a rocky spot with a view of the ocean. The views add extra money to the valuation, and apparently they added more than we expected to the construction costs. This excess just wasn't in the budget. Stuff like the septic system. Our budget was $7500, but the sub contractor wants $13500. They're afraid of the rocky soil. And with Steve in the hospital he can't clear the rocks with our tractor himself. It is a mess.
