I've used c# since it was released and it is now pretty good, Linq will
make it very good but it is not an easy system to learn. VB is an easier
route if you don't already know C or better still c++. I would avoid C
for commercial apps.

There are huge issues for any businesses based on development on which
way to go. There are many well reasoned arguments for all options (huge
amounts of arguments for/against were(? are) generated by the VB community).

My only advise on this is to make a plan so you don't end up making
pressured decisions; look at were you want to be in x (ten?) years time
and draft out a route-map of how to get there. Maybe you may plan to
give yourself a year to decide but make sure you plan time to look at
the alternatives, use them develop a test app in each of them for
example. Plan time for that learning curve and any conversion projects
that you think are required. Allocate a reasonable budget that you can
afford (there is no point in allocating £2K pa for MS software and RAD
tools if you can't afford that route) and look at the risks with an open
mind and look at what you need to do to minimise them.

Maybe even a chance to change the income model; I spend most of my life
in Project/IT management not developing [what do you mean you can tell ;) ].

In this way the business plan becomes something you have ownership of
(maybe even a source of some fun) and is not just an added pressure.

Hire a life coach if it helps!
